Are you ready to enjoy moving, thriving, and celebrating your body as a source of joy?

Jenny April Movements is about discovering & co-creating your ideal movement healing program.

Movers and Shakers often suffer from Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, which manifests with confusing symptoms where the pain seems to travel between multiple areas of the body. Traditional medical practitioners tend to throw their hands up in the air, refuse to treat more than one area and/or claim psychological issues are driving the pain.

Here at Jenny April Movements, we love treating complex, mysterious traveling pain symptoms and multiple areas of concern. In reality, “traveling” chronic pain is often due to imbalances of the fascia and autonomic nervous system.

Together, we will uncover these imbalances, and then co-create a individualized breath & movement program to rebalance and heal your system. Most importantly we will find ways for you to enjoy your movement practices again.

Dr. Jenny April, PT, DPT, CKTP blends her knowledge of classical physical therapy with the holistic traditions of Gyrotonic® and Yoga, to create a fresh perspective on physical rehabilitation.

After facing several sports and dance related injuries herself, Jenny April discovered, fell in love, and began teaching Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® in New York City in 2008.

She is certified on all specialized Gyrotonic® equipment, which she combines with her experience as a Vinyasa & Aerial Yoga instructor. Her physical therapy treatments are also informed by her knowledge of Feldenkrais, the Alexander Technique, the Fascial Meridians, Kinesio Taping and Cranial Sacral Therapy.

Jenny April uses these principles of alignment & breath awareness to prevent re-injury, as well as create maximal postural stability, joy, and ease with her clients.  Currently, Jenny April lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, and enjoys hiking, choreography, and all kinds of adventures...

 Meet the Gyrotonic® Trainers

Mazarine Harris

Movement has always had a central focus in Maz’s life. She trained as professional dancer during her teenage years, studied Kinesiology in school and continues her education through various movement modalities. She discovered **GYROTONIC®** exercise while navigating the challenges of multiple growth spurts as an elite athlete. After a career-ending foot injury, Maz retired from dance and went back to school. She supplemented her **GYROTONIC®** and **GYROKINESIS®** certifications with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology & Health Sciences at William & Mary. She draws from her studies and her lived experience with chronic pain and hypermobility, serving as a catalyst for helping others. Maz guides clients to explore new mind-body connections with the goal of helping them break free from the cycle of pain. Her approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, with a sprinkle humor. Maz offers sessions in English and French. When she isn’t teaching, you can find her rock-climbing, reading, in a yoga studio or walking around Capitol Hill with her husband and rescue beagle, Olive. She is currently studying the pelvic floor, and pursuing a DONA International Birth Doula certification.
